Transparency and accountability in the supervisory activity

In order to foster a uniform level of transparency and accountability of supervisory authorities as well as to ensure that the information disclosed in accordance with Article 31(2) of Directive 2009/138/EC is easily accessible and comparable, EU Regulation 2015/2451 was adopted with the aim of providing for common rules regarding the structure and format of the disclosure of such information.

This involves the use of predefined structures, including:

Laws, regulations, administrative rules and general guidance

Supervisory review process (SRP)

  • to be published shortly

Aggregate statistical data including market information and supervisory aspects

  • Aggregate statistical data on insurance undertakings and groups supervised under Directive 2009/138/EC; use of adjustments or transitional measures; amounts of assets, liabilities and own funds; regulatory capital requirements; internal models

    Aggregate statistical data with regard to insurance undertakings and groups - Templates A and B

  • Information on: staff of the supervisory authority, on-site inspections, internal models, supervisory measures and powers, colleges of supervisors, approvals of own funds, peer reviews.

    Quantitative data on the supervisory authority - Template C

  • Information on: structure of the supervisory authority, criteria for the application, calculation and removal of the capital add-ons, approved ancillary own-fund items and approved ancillary own-fund items not included in the relevant lists referred to in articles 69, 72, 74, 76 and 78 of delegated regulation (EU) 2015/35, scope of the analyses of the peer reviews organized and performed by EIOPA. Information shall be published for the four previous financial years.
