Enrico Coratti

Born in Terlizzi (BA) on May 27, 1985.

After attending Scientific High School in Frosinone, he graduated with honours in Actuarial and Financial Sciences (2010) and obtained his Ph.D. in Actuarial Sciences (2015) at La Sapienza University of Rome.

After qualifying for the profession of actuary, he worked for a few months for a leading consulting firm on actuarial projects and as a non-life actuary at a major insurance company in the Italian market.

He joined IVASS in 2011 and worked on European and international regulations, representing IVASS in the main working groups and policy committees on the development of the Solvency II prudential regulation at EIOPA (with focus on financial requirements) and the definition of global standards on insurance solvency at IAIS. He chaired working groups on the definition of technical measures for the calculation of the Solvency Capital Requirement (SCR), worked on the definition of the Solvency II Long-term guarantees measures, and dealt with the adaptation of IVASS secondary legislation to the new prudential regulation.

From September 2018 to August 2022, he worked as a seconded national expert at the European Commission in the Insurance and Pensions Unit of the Directorate-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union (DG FISMA), where he was in charge of the preparatory work and drafting of the proposal for the revision of the Solvency II Directive (September 2021), the development of new macro-prudential tools in the insurance prudential framework and the proposal for an Insurance Recovery and Resolution Directive.

At the Commission, he conducted compliance analyses of EU countries' legislation transposing the Insurance Distribution Directive. During the pandemic, he also worked on the development of harmonized measures to mitigate newly emerging risks to EU financial stability and to protect the renewed insurance needs of citizens and businesses, as well as to strengthen pandemic resilience within the EU.

As from November 2022, he has been Head of the Distribution Supervision Division I within IVASS' Market Conduct Supervision Directorate.
