Alessia Angelilli

Born in Rome on 04 November 1976.

After graduating with honours in Economics and Business at "La Sapienza" University of Rome (2001), she earned a master's degree in Management and Finance of banking and insurance undertakings at the same university (2004).

From 2001 to 2006 she worked in the marketing and product sector of a bank and afterwards in the finance unit of an insurance undertaking.

Hired by ISVAP in 2006, she was assigned to the International Affairs Section, where she dealt with national and international policy, representing the Institute in various working groups and international committees, with a focus on international accounting standards (where she also chairs a European working group on the subject) and on the works for the development of a European project for the review of the prudential supervision regime (so-called Solvency II).

From 2010 to 2013 she was seconded as national expert to the European Commission, in the Insurance Unit of the Internal Market and Financial Services Division, and was part of the team of technical experts involved in the design and implementation of Solvency II, and in the drafting and negotiation of the Omnibus II Directive with the European Parliament and the Council. In this period she dealt in particular with regulatory issues regarding insurance groups, governance and supervisory reporting. She also participated in various Community’s legislative works, including the review of the Financial Conglomerates Directive and the works on resolution for insurance undertakings. She represented the European Commission in international fora, following in particular the works on systemic risk in the insurance sector.

In March 2013 she returned to IVASS, where she continued to follow the closure of negotiations on Solvency II on behalf of the Institute, representing IVASS in the level II committees led by the European Commission, and coordinated various works of an international nature with gradually increasing responsibilities. Since October 2015 she has been the temporary holder of the International Cooperation Division set up within the Supervisory Regulations and Policies Directorate, where she has been coordinating IVASS’ participation in the works of EIOPA and IAIS and maintaining relations with the EU and international institutions. In 2020 she passed the selection for the post of Director.

Since 2016, she has been an alternate for Board Member Alberto Corinti on the EIOPA Board of Supervisors and the IAIS executive committees. Since April 2022 she has chaired the EIOPA Insurance and Pensions Policy Steering Committee (Policy Steering Committee), of which she was a member from 2018.
