Roberto Roberti

Born in Rome on 14 August 1964, in 1988 he graduated with honours in Statistical and Actuarial Sciences from “La Sapienza” University of Rome. He qualified as professional actuary in 1990, and is a member of the National Association of Actuaries.

In 1990 he was hired by ISVAP and, after holding all the posts in the executive career at the Actuarial Section - technical classes, the Supervisory Departments and the Life Actuarial Section, performing also inspections, in 2002 he was appointed Head of the Social Security and Pension Fund Section at ISVAP. In 2003 he became head of the Actuarial Section at the Supervisory Department II, where he dealt with the technical supervision over insurance undertakings for both life and non-life business. In this capacity, he collaborated in the drafting of the Regulations on the methods for determining rates and technical provisions, on disclosure in insurance contracts, on the establishment and administration of segregate funds.

In 2011 he was appointed Head of the Supervisory Department II at ISVAP. Since June 2013, after the establishment of IVASS, he has been Head of the Prudential Supervision Directorate and is responsible for supervision over groups and undertakings of the insurance and reinsurance market. In collaboration with the other EU Authorities he supervises over financial conglomerates and coordinates the works of the Colleges of Supervisors of cross border groups. In 2013 he underwent the assessment of the IMF on supervisory activities. He takes part in the round tables of the Informal Lead Supervisory meetings on the implementation of the Solvency II directive for internal models.

He is member, as IVASS representative, of the supervisory Committee on SACE’s insurance business for risks other than market risks.

He has held various positions for the Institute. He was member, during the period of operation, of the Commission for the management of the Guarantee Fund for Victims of Financial Frauds set up at the Minister of Economy and Finance. He was chairperson of commissions for the recruitment at ISVAP of graduates in economic and actuarial disciplines.

From 1994 to 2005 he collaborated with the Chair holder of Financial mathematics II of Tor Vergata University and was in the teaching staff of various editions of the Master's course for insurance risk management analysts at “La Sapienza” University of Rome and of the Master's course on antitrust and market regulation at Tor Vergata University. He represented IVASS as speaker at the National Congresses of Actuaries and at the annual meetings of the auditing actuaries for life assurance and motor liability insurance, and took part in radio programmes on disclosure in life assurance contracts. He is co-author of an exercise book in financial mathematics.
