More than a year after the entry into force of Solvency II, the second IVASS Conference takes stock of the issues still open in its application (complexity, convergence, proportionality also in light of the planned review of the standard formula), of business models and medium-long term growth strategies, in a challenging market context for both macroeconomic conditions and the digital revolution which constitutes, at the same time, a lever for creating value and a threat to the traditional way to do insurance business.
Central to the Conference is the segment of small and medium-sized insurers: what risks and opportunities for them in the “new world”? A comprehensive reflection and an exchange of international experiences in a sector of unquestionable relevance both in Europe and in Italy, for obvious prudential reasons, for overall market efficiency, for consumer protection.
After the welcome address by Salvatore Rossi, President of IVASS, and the keynote speech by Gabriel Bernardino, President of EIOPA, the conference will be divided into two panels: the first will mainly focus on international experiences, both at business and regulatory level; the second, whose work will be opened by Maria Bianca Farina, President of ANIA (Italian Insurance Association), on the peculiarities of the Italian market, also building upon the reflections and experience gained in the first panel.
