Alberto Arpano

Born in Biella on 10 November 1960, he graduated with honours in Law from “La Sapienza” University of Rome in July 1983.
At the same University, he received the Diploma of the Post-Graduate School of Trade Union, Labour and Social Security Law in 1988.
He was hired by ISVAP in 1985, after passing the course competition for the recruitment of inspectors and was assigned to the non-life Supervisory Department, where he acquired expertise in the areas of operation of the Institute, with particular regard to inspections. Inspections represented the core of his main professional activity, since he took part in numerous on site checks, of increasing complexity, at large and small undertakings, claims settlement departments, insurance agents and brokers. From 2003 to 2011, he performed a planning, reviewing and coordinating function as manager of one of the two Sections of the then Inspectorate Service.
After a short working experience in the Consumer Protection Directorate as head of the Policyholders' Protection Section (January 2012/June 2013), where he dealt with the handling of complaints, the rationalisation of the related information flows, he was called to join, as of June 10, 2013, the new Inspection Directorate, reintroduced as a separate structure by IVASS' reorganisation plan.
In his new role, he oversaw the procedural and methodological innovations related to the introduction of the new inspection guidelines, as well as the implementation of the new policy on sanctioning procedures resulting from violations detected during inspections. Since November 2013 he has been assigned the task of coordinating and supervising the review of new inspection reports.
From 20 December 2013 to 30 September 2024 he held the post of Officer responsible for transparency and prevention of corruption at IVASS, pursuant to Law No. 190/2012 and legislative decree No. 33/2013.
Since November 2014 he has been Deputy Head of the Inspection Directorate.
