Sergio Antonica

Born on 16 May 1963, in 1987 he graduated with honours in Information Science from the University of Bari.

Having completed his military service at an Army Data Processing Centre, his first work experiences involved working for internationally renowned IT companies in the design and implementation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructures and services.

He joined the Bank of Italy in 1991 and was assigned to the CED (Data Processing Centre) Division 1 of the Processing and Information Systems Department, where he was responsible for the development and management of ICT infrastructures, holding the position of Data Centre Manager on duty from 1997. In the period 2005 - 2011 he was responsible for the Service Desk function to support users of the Bank's ICT services. From 2011 to 2013 he was responsible for the Service Level Planning Area within the User Support and Service Quality Division and held the role of Service Level Manager in the domestic area and IT Manager on duty for the Target2 international payments platform. He has served as Executive Director in the programme for the engineering of IT service management processes according to international best practices (ITIL). He has participated in the work of the task force of the European System of Central Banks, for the definition of a common framework for ICT services and, in this context, has held the role of System Manager for the management of services, network infrastructures and security.

Since 2014, he has been seconded to IVASS, where he has provided consulting services for the management of the IT integration phase between the Institute and the Bank of Italy. Since February 2015 he has been in charge of the Technology and Systems Division.

He has held several positions as Executive Director of ICT contracts, participating and coordinating several working groups pertaining to the digital transformation of the Institute in collaboration with the IT Department of the Bank of Italy.

He has participated, as a representative of the Institute, in the work of the ITDC (Information Technology & Data Committee) at EIOPA, is a member of the Board of Directors of the XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language) association and of CLUSIT (Italian Association for Cyber Security).
