Antonietta Bozzano

Born in Rome on 6 June 1963, in 1987 she graduated with honours in Economics and Business from “La Sapienza” University of Rome.

In 1988 she was hired by Alitalia and was engaged in operational research for various business sectors.

In 1990 she won the competition for the executive career at ISVAP and was assigned to the Department responsible for supervision over undertakings, where she was involved in the supervision over the major Italian insurance groups. Until 1998 inspections represented the core of her main professional activity, and she took part in numerous on site checks at large and small undertakings, claims settlement departments, insurance agents and brokers.

From 1999 to 2003 she was assigned to the Insurance Intermediaries Department and she collaborated directly with the Head of the Department in the setting up and organization of the Department following the transfer of competences on insurance intermediaries from the Ministry of Economic Development. In particular she was coordinator in the drafting of the Regulations for registration in the Registers and during the initial phase of management of disciplinary proceedings.

In 2003 she resumed working in the Supervisory Department with the task of coordinating activities of off-site and on-site supervision over major cross-border insurance groups and financial conglomerates, also in collaboration with the European supervisory authorities in the framework of the Colleges of Supervisors. Since 2009 she has followed the Solvency II process examining in particular the issues relating to the internal models for the calculation of the capital requirement.

In 2014 she was responsible for the team supervising over the internal model of an international insurance group pursuant to Directive 2009/138/EC. In this framework she also carried out on-site checks at the Italian companies included in the scope of the group internal model and at the foreign parent company, together with other European supervisory authorities. She participated in the discussions among the supervisors involved in the joint-decision process envisaged in art. 231 of Directive 2009/138/EC.

She held several positions at IVASS (former ISVAP) both as Deputy Chairman of the selection board for the qualifying examination for registration in the Register of insurance agents and as member of the Committee envisaged by the Agreement for the provision of insurance coverage of risks resulting from the use of motor vehicles and craft by government departments.

She coordinated the working group for the drafting of the Regulation, implementing the Code of private insurance, laying down the guidelines on investments and assets representing technical provisions and collaborated in the review of the circular letters on unit and index linked products.

From 7 March 2017 to 31 December 2019 she was Deputy Head of Insurance Groups Division I and in 2018 she passed the recruitment procedure for the post of Director.

As from 1 January 2020 she is Head of Insurance Groups Division II.
